Get more friends, money, energy, time, & sex without leaving home

I am often asked, "how do I know when I should declutter?" We watch TV and see other people's homes being decluttered and organized and probably even question how could others live like that because the mess is so obvious. But, you see, the more we live with clutter the more we become used to it and the less we see it. So it may well be likely that you may also be living in less than optimal conditions simply because you are used to "your mess".

So how do I know when to declutter? Order and organization attract money, energy, time, friends and yes even sex. You see if you and your spouse/partner have a bedroom that is messy, it is very hard to be romantic and loving. The desire is simply not there because the mess has sucked the romance right out of the room. The same with money, if your kitchen is cramped full of appliances that you have not use, you have lost good money and have a kitchen that is uninviting. If you are too embarrassed to have friends over, then your social life may suffer.

Clutter and disorder extract a high price from our lives and it is time to reclaim ourselves and our homes.

From the outside many homes appear calm and ordered but as with so much else in life, external appearances do not match what is actually going on inside. When I meet many of my clients for the first time, they describe feeling embarrassed that they find themselves in such a mess, overwhelmed by the stuff that surrounds them, and of being afraid of saying anything to anyone else because everyone appears to have their stuff together. And so the perceived idea that they are they only ones in disorder keeps people surrounded by chaos which drains them physically, mentally, and spiritually.

And yet, the perception is false. I can guarantee that in 90% of homes there is at least one room that the owners do not want you to see! Do you have a room like this? Perhaps a spare bedroom, the attic, basement, or garage? I challenge you to go into any home and open any closet door, peek under any bed, take a look in the attic, basement, garage, open kitchen drawers and pantries…and you may be surprised by all the “stuff” that’s stashed here and there. If any of these “stashes” sound familiar, you are a contender for decluttering.

Benefits of Decluttering

Whilst it is obvious why a person with clutter in every area in their home needs to declutter, why declutter if all you need to do is simply shut a bedroom door when guests arrive? Whether you have a whole house in disarray or just one room in the home that is out of sync with the way you wish to live your life, the benefits of decluttering are the same. Because no matter what, you are thinking about that messy area more than you realize. And the message you are sending yourself is a negative one. Is it any wonder you are feeling tired and out of sorts with the world? You may think that closing the door to the mess, keeps the mess out of your life but that mess lives in your mind and eats away at you from the inside.

The benefits of decluttering include:

  • Being able to locate things when you need them, saving you time which you can spend how you want, perhaps with your family, doing craft or creative project, with your partner, exercising, etc.
  • Knowing what items you have, so you no longer buy duplicate items saving you time and money
  • Reducing your stress – no more frenzied running around the house shoving things into rooms and cupboards when visitors drop over unexpectedly
  • Enjoying entertaining friends & family in a calm environment
  • Relishing your retreat from the world and its pressures
  • When you free your surroundings from clutter you benefit in three main life areas. You will:
  • Improve your mental health by freeing your mind to think clearer
  • improve your finances – a calm home environment allows abundance to flow into your home
  • improve your health – a home that is well-ordered and calm facilitates the nourishment of your body with healthy food
